Clashes with IOF in different W. Bank areas on Nakba Day

Violent clashes broke out on Sunday afternoon between Palestinian young men and the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in Ramallah Jerusalem and Tulkarem as popular events were held across the West Bank to mark the 76th anniversary of the 1948 Nakba (catastrophe).

According to local sources a large number of young men hurled stones at Israeli soldiers at the northern entrance to Bireh City and blocked the road with burning tires rocks and other obstacles.

Clashes also broke out inside and outside al-Quds University in Abu Dis City after the IOF stormed its campus and intensively fired tear gas grenades.

Soon later widespread clashes with the IOF ensued in different areas of Abu Dis during which local young men managed to set fire to the separation wall’s iron gate which was used by the IOF to storm the city.

Local medical sources said that ambulance crews handled 10 cases of Palestinians with rubber bullet injuries five others with fall injuries and dozens of teargas-related cases during the clashes in Abu Dis.

Similar clashes also took place in Tulkarem after the IOF attacked the campus of Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie. Many young men suffered from inhaling tear gas during the events.

Meanwhile the Israeli occupation police kidnaped three Palestinian young men from different areas of Jerusalem. One of them was detained after police officers beat him in Shuafat refugee camp.
