The head of the US military’s Central Command which is responsible for American activities in the Middle East arrived in Israel on Monday to meet with senior Israeli officials.
According to Israeli news outlets talks between the two sides are expected to focus on Syria and tensions between Israel and Tehran.
The visit the first of its kind has been without fanfare or publicity.
The meetings come amid a period of heightened tensions between Israel Syria and Iran following a deadly airstrike on an Iranian facility in central Syria which has been attributed to the Israeli occupation forces.
During his visit Votel is scheduled to meet with the Israeli military Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot National Security Adviser Meir Ben-Shabbat and other senior officials.
