Statistics released by the committee of Jerusalem prisoners’ families have revealed that there are 570 Jerusalemite prisoners currently held in Israeli jails.
Among them are prisoners Samir Abu Ni’ma who has been detained since 1986 and Wael Qasem who is serving 35 life sentences in addition to a 50-year sentence in Israeli jails.
The highest sentence among male minors in Israeli jails is 11 years imposed on Mohammed Taha while the highest sentence among female minors is 16 years imposed on Shorouq Dweikat.
The youngest male prisoner is the 14-year-old Mohammed Houshiyeh who has been detained for two years now while the youngest female is Manar Shweiki 18 and she is serving a 6-year sentence.
There are 53 Jerusalemite prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment in Israeli lock-ups.
