Committee calls for saving Gaza from current humanitarian crisis

Saturday 10-February-2018

Head of the Popular International Committee to Support Gaza Esam Yousuf on Saturday called on Arab and Muslim countries to provide more support to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

Yousuf said in a press statement that the acute shortage of the fuel that operates Gaza’s health institutions requires urgent and continued support by Arab and Muslim countries to overcome the humanitarian crisis plaguing the blockaded enclave.

Yousuf expressed his deep thanks to the Qatari and Emirati initiatives to send fuel medical supplies and food aid to the Gaza Strip.

He asked the rest of the Arab and Muslim world countries to launch similar initiatives and work to end the 12-year-long blockade imposed on Gaza.

He also called on the Egyptian government to open Rafah crossing continuously so that Gaza residents can travel freely especially patients and students and can easily receive the aid that covers their basic needs.

Praising Egypt’s role in the Palestinian reconciliation process Yousuf stressed that opening Rafah crossing would alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza and further strengthen the Palestinian-Egyptian bilateral relations.
