Court extends detention of Ahed Tamimi and her mother for one month

Tuesday 13-February-2018

An Israeli court on Tuesday morning decided to extend the detention of the Palestinian teen Ahed al-Tamimi and her mother until 11th March.

One of 30 minor girls held in Israeli jails al-Tamimi appeared on Tuesday before Ofer court to face 12 charges including “assault” and “incitement”.

The Israeli judge decided to hold Ahed’s trial in a closed session and expelled journalists from the courtroom without giving reasons.

Ahed al-Tammi 17 had appeared in a video slapping two Israeli soldiers who were trying to break into her house during a protest in Nabi Saleh village in Ramallah.

Ofer court on Sunday decided to delay Ahed’s trial until Tuesday to give the defense more time to study the case.

Since her arrest Ahed has been an icon of Palestinian popular resistance against the Israeli occupation.
