Daghlas warns of new wave of settler attacks in Salfit

Monday 29-March-2021

Ghassan Daghlas the Palestinian Authority official who monitors settlement activities in the northern West Bank has warned of renewed terror attacks to be carried out by extremist Jewish settlers (members of the Price Tag gang) in Salfit province.

“There are terrorist cells of settlers actively operating in Salfit province especially in its western countryside in the towns of Kafr ad-Dik Deir Ballut Bruqin and Biddya” Daghlas said in press remarks on Monday.

“Yesterday on Sunday afternoon a citizen in Kafr ad-Dik was injured in an attack by settlers who are trying to take over Dohr Subuh and Khirbet Susya areas in the north of the town. Two citizens were also shot by settlers while they were on their own land in Khillet Hassan in the west of Biddya a few months ago” he explained.

“Several weeks ago settlers attacked a family who was reclaiming its land in Bruqin village and damaged its car and they also attacked farmers in al-Ras and al-Marhat areas in the west of Salfit as part of their efforts to establish a new settlement outpost in the area. Additionally they persist in their provocative acts through storming Islamic sites on a weekly basis in Kifl Hares in the northwest of Salfit” he elaborated.

“The settlers’ attacks have increased since the beginning of the current year and they have become daily. Therefore such situation entails vigilance and attention from our people in Salfit and its towns and the formation of popular security committees in all towns and villages” the Palestinian official stressed.
