Detained Palestinian MPs call on Abbas to return to national dialogue

Wednesday 18-July-2007

GAZA (PIC)– Palestinian kidnapped MPs ministers and mayors detained in the Israeli jails have called on PA chief Mahmoud Abbas to return to the comprehensive national dialogue on a just and democratic basis to reunite the Palestinian people and not to persist in separating the West Bank from the Gaza Strip.

The detained lawmakers and officials held Abbas responsible for all decisions that might increase security chaos and division.

During a visit by the lawyer of the Nafha society for the defense of human rights and prisoners the Palestinian officials pointed out that the release of any Palestinian prisoner is a gain to the entire Palestinian people “but the defect lies in the discrimination between factions for it is an insult to the Palestinian people and their cause and the prisoners’ mothers who are anticipating the return of their sons.”

The MPs appealed to the PA chief to work for the release of all prisoners especially the legitimately-elected MPs and to break the “terrible silence” over their case.

In another development Dr. Nasser Eddin Sha’er the education minister in the dissolved unity government was released from Israeli occupation jails Tuesday evening after he had finished serving the administrative sentence issued against him.
