Detainee Ahmad Zahran on 97th day of hunger strike

Saturday 28-December-2019

The Palestinian prisoner Ahmad Zahran has been on hunger strike in Israeli jails for 97 days in protest at his administrative detention amid worrying deterioration in his health condition.

Spokesman for the Palestinian Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission Hasan Abed Rabbu said that Zahran who is currently held at Ramla prison clinic has lost 30 kg of weight.

Abed Rabbu said that the Ofer Appeals Court has not yet issued a decision regarding the appeal filed against the new order to detain Zahran administratively without charge or trial for four months.

He noted that the Israeli court keeps procrastinating and refuses to respond to Zahran’s demands in an attempt to undermine his determination.

He added that Zahran last week was subjected to harsh interrogation despite his serious health condition at the Ramla prison clinic.

Ahmad Zahran 42 a resident of Deir Abu Mash’al village west of Ramallah had spent 15 years in Israeli jails before he was re-detained in March 2019.
