Dozens of civilians suffered from inhaling tear gas during violent confrontations with Israeli soldiers on Thursday evening in Issawiya town in occupied Jerusalem.
Local sources said that Israeli occupation police forces raided the martyr Muhammad Obeid neighborhood in the town and fired tear gas canisters indiscriminately towards the citizens’ homes who were forced to close them despite the hot weather and dozens of them suffered teargas suffocation.
Israeli police forces have been raiding Issawiya town frequently attacking and arresting Palestinians including women and children.
The Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) prevent the townspeople from building and embark on demolishing their homes and delivering demolish notices on a weekly basis under the pretext of unlicensed buildings.
In return they refuse to approve building structural maps which enable the residents to build new houses and expand their homes to match the natural increase. In addition IOA forces dozens of citizens to self-demolish their homes.
IOA has confiscated ten years ago hundreds of dunums of Al-Issawiya’s lands in its eastern borders and built military camps on these lands.
