Dozens of Israeli settlers stormed Wednesday morning al-Aqsa Mosque via the Israeli-controlled al-Magharibeh Gate under heavy protection of police forces.
Israeli police forces intensified their presence in the compound since the early morning hours to provide protection for the settlers’ break-in.
Awqaf Department official Firas al-Dibbis affirmed that 88 settlers broke into the holy shrine in several groups and carried out provocative tours.
Meanwhile Israeli occupation authorities continued to restrict Palestinians’ access into the Mosque.
Al-Aqsa Mosque has been subjected to almost-daily break-ins by Israeli settlers and soldiers as part of Israeli attempt to impose a fait accompli in the compound.
