Israeli ministry of health said that more than 40 Israelis were killed at dawn Friday in a stampede in the Galilee (in northern 1948 Occupied Palestine).
Hebrew media reported that thousands of ultraorthodox Jews were celebrating a religious feast at Mount Meron (Gurmuq) slope when some revelers slipped on steps causing dozens more people to fall over and the ensuing stampede killed and injured dozens.
Israeli police evacuated the area and cleared nearby roads for ambulance vehicles while copters were sent to carry the serious casualties to hospitals.
