Two journalists were injured by rubber-coated metal bullets while dozens of Palestinians suffered from tear-gas inhalation after Israeli occupation forces (IOF) raided Bab al-Zawiya area of al-Khalil on Tuesday evening.
The clashes erupted when the IOF soldiers violently suppressed a pro-prisoners march in the city.
The photojournalist Abdel Mohsen Shalaldeh was hit by a rubber bullet in the hand while the photojournalist Mosab Shawar was hit in his foot. They were both taken to hospital for treatment.
The march was held in support of the Palestinian prisoners’ protest steps declared nearly 24 days ago in rejection of the Israeli prison service’s punitive measures.
4500 Palestinian prisoners are currently held in Israeli jails including 34 women 180 minors and about 500 administrative detainees.
