Sunday 26-December-2021

A large number of Palestinian citizens were reportedly injured on Saturday evening during violent clashes with the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in different areas of Nablus and Jenin.

The Red Crescent said its ambulance crews provided medical assistance for 247 wounded citizens in Burqa village northwest of Nablus.

10 of them were injured by live ammunition and 48 others were injured by rubber bullets. One of the wounded citizens suffered a serious bullet injury and was rushed to Rafidia Hospital according to the Red Crescent.

185 citizens including a pregnant woman also suffered from their exposure to tear gas during the events.

Other medical sources said earlier that two young men were injured by rubber bullets and dozens suffered from inhaling tear gas during skirmishes with the IOF at the main entrances to the towns of Burqa and Bizzariya in northern Nablus.

Local sources said that the IOF blocked the main entrance to Burqa in the evening and clashed with dozens of young men while resistance fighters opened fire at soldiers in the town.

Clashes also took place near the main entrance to Silat ad-Dhaher town in southern Jenin after the IOF closed the road leading to it to prevent more local youths from going to Burqa town in Nablus to help its residents fend off settler attacks.

The Hebrew media claimed that one soldier suffered an injury in his face when Palestinian youths hurled stones at Israeli forces in Burqa.

Meanwhile a horde of extremist settlers in the evening attacked Palestinian homes in Sebastia town in northern Nablus.

Sebastia mayor Mohamed Azem said that settlers threw rocks at homes near the main entrance to his town and opened fire at local residents as they tried to defend their homes and ward off the attack.

Azem added that the IOF intervened to protect the settlers and clashed with local youths following the settler attack on the town.

He also said that dozens of citizens suffered from inhaling tear gas fumes during the events.

Earlier the IOF closed the Nablus-Jenin road to secure the area ahead of the rally which settlers announced their intent to organize on the evacuated site of Homesh outpost.

The IOF also closed the main road in Silat ad-Dhaher town in Jenin and prevented Palestinian vehicles from moving in both directions.

A large number of forces were also dispatched to the Homesh site to secure the settler rally.

After Burqa villagers on Friday called on their compatriots in nearby areas to help them ward off intended settler attacks on their homes dozens of Palestinian citizens form different areas of Jenin flocked on Saturday to the village to support them.

In another incident clashes broke out between Palestinian young men and Israeli soldiers near the entrance to Beita town in southern Nablus.

Local sources said that dozens of young men rallied at the main entrance to Beita and torched tires on the road in protest at the establishment of a settler outpost on Mount Sobeih which overlooks Palestinian towns.

Young men also threw homemade fire bombs at Israeli military vehicles near the mount.

Earlier the IOF wreaked havoc on sit-in tents erected by local activists in Karam Namer area near Mount Sobeih.
