Dozens of Palestinians injured in clashes with police in Silwan

The Israeli occupation police on Wednesday evening attacked Palestinian residents in the east Jerusalem district of Silwan while Jewish settlers opened fire at Palestinian homes in the northwest of Nablus.

According to local sources dozens of Palestinians were injured during violent clashes with police forces in Silwan.

Five young men were reportedly injured by rubber bullets and about 84 others suffered from their exposure to tear gas during the clashes in Silwan according to local medical sources.

Three paramedics were also injured when soldiers targeted them intentionally during the events.

Eyewitnesses said that Silwan youths for their part showered the police forces in Silwan with firecrackers and threw homemade fire bombs during the events.

The clashes happened mainly in Bir Ayyoub neighborhood in Silwan where local youths also torched a pole holding Israeli security cameras.

Earlier the Israeli police kidnaped a Jerusalemite citizen called Mansour Mahmoud at the entrance to Issawiya district and took him to al-Moskobiya detention center after searching him.

Another Jerusalemite young man identified as Ihab Abu Sneineh from Silwan received a summons for interrogation from the Israeli intelligence

In a separate incident a horde of armed Jewish settlers in the evening opened fire at Palestinian homes and hurled rocks at cars near the main entrance to Burqa village northwest of Nablus.

Local official Ghassan Daghlas said that dozens of settlers infiltrated into an area near the site of the evacuated settlement of Homesh and stoned Palestinian vehicles traveling on the road between Jenin and Nablus adding that several cars sustained damage in the attack.

The same settlers also opened fire at homes near the entrance to the village provoking clashes with local residents Daghlas said.
