Dozens of Palestinian citizens rallied outside the Grand Mosque in Lod City in 1948 Occupied Palestine to protect it against any attack by extremist Jewish settlers who organized a provocative flag march in the city.
Palestinian lawyer and activist Khaled Zabarqa said that such popular rally constituted a deterrent to any settler attempt to target the Mosque or local residents in the city as happened in May’s events.
Zabarqa affirmed that what took place in recent months in the city reflected the Palestinian citizens’ ability to protect themselves and influence their future adding that the popular rallying around the fateful issues is able to neutralize threats and extract rights.
He stressed the need to protect and strengthen “the popular will” unite it behind certain goals and find a leadership capable of stimulating it.
Hordes of extremist settlers including notorious Knesset member Itamar Ben-Gvir on Sunday evening participated in a flag march in the cities of Lod and Ramla.
The march was staged by right-wing Zionist groups with the aim of inciting Jewish residents in the mixed cities to escalate their acts of terrorism against Arab citizens and their property.
