The European Union (EU) called on the Israeli authorities to end the solitary confinement of the Palestinian prisoner Ahmad Manasra and to ensure he receives the necessary psychological counselling and support.
The EU office in Occupied Jerusalem revealed in a tweet that some EU Member States attended Ahmad Manasra’s hearing on Thursday.
The Israeli court extended his one year-long solitary confinement for another 4 months.
The EU office pointed out that the UN stipulates solitary confinement beyond 15 days constitutes torture.
“Given serious international concerns about fair trial standards and due process in this case we call on Israeli authorities to urgently release him” the tweet reads.
