The Egyptian authorities on Saturday opened the Rafah border crossing in both directions for the travel of Palestinian passengers from and into the Gaza Strip as relations between Hamas and Cairo saw a remarkable improvement recently.
The crossing will be opened for three days as of Saturday January 28 and this will be the first time this year according to the Palestinian authority of border and crossing affairs in Gaza.
The Gazan passengers will be able to travel directly through the outer terminal of the crossing without the need to hand over their passport as previously the authority of border affairs said.
In recent months Cairo has increased the number of people allowed to exit through the Rafah crossing Gaza’s main gateway to the outside world.
