Egypt-sponsored cease-fire agreement reached in Gaza

Friday 21-May-2021

Taher Al-Nunu the media advisor of Hamas said on Thursday that the Movement had been informed by officials in Egypt that a cease-fire in Gaza Strip is to go into effect mutually and simultaneously at 0200 am Friday.

Nunu pointed out in a brief statement that the Palestinian resistance will abide by this agreement as long as the occupation is committed.

This agreement takes place after the Israeli occupation forces launched a brutal aggression on the Gaza Strip during which more than 230 martyrs were killed and more than 1500 civilians were wounded while artillery and air strikes destroyed hundreds of homes in addition to massive damage to the infrastructure.

On the other hand the rockets of the resistance targeted 1948 occupied Palestinian cities and the settlements near Gaza killing 12 Israelis in addition to the damage caused to buildings in those areas.

Israeli warplanes continued for the 11th consecutive day to pound the Gaza Strip on Thursday night destroying more homes and facilities and killing and injuring more citizens.

The death toll from Israel’s ongoing aggression against the embattled Gaza Strip has risen to at least 232 Palestinians including 65 children 39 women and 17 elderly in addition to 1760 injuries according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
