AQABA (PIC)– Jordanian security men blocked members of the popular solidarity convoy Ansar-1 form entering Aqaba port to go on board a ferry heading to Egyptian port of Nuweibi en route to Gaza Strip.
Participants said that they reached an agreement with Al-Jasr Al-Arab company jointly owned by Egypt Jordan and Iraq to board the ferry to the Egyptian port but were blocked by the security men citing Egyptian disapproval of their travel plan.
The Aqaba governor and the director of the company both said they were informed by Egyptian authorities that those solidarity activists would not be allowed into Egypt.
Members of the convoy had organized a sit-in on Sunday protesting the Egyptian refusal to allow them into Egypt en route to Gaza after six days of waiting.
Head of the convoy Abdul Fattah Al-Keilani said that they would go without the relief material 26 vehicles including two ambulances loaded with medical assistance and two trucks loaded with construction material in order to facilitate their travel then they would later discuss means of sending the relief material.
