The Egyptian security delegation left the Gaza Strip on Thursday afternoon through the Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing after holding meetings with officials from Hamas Islamic Jihad and other major factions.
A reporter for the Palestinian Information Center (PA) said deputy director of the Egyptian intelligence Ahmed Farouq and other senior security officials left Gaza for Israel after meeting leaders of Hamas and other factions.
After managing recently to calm the tension between the Palestinian resistance and Israel in Gaza the Egyptian intelligence has resumed its efforts to solidify a ceasefire agreement between the two sides and broker a deal that could alleviate the siege on Gaza.
Meanwhile Jamie McGoldrick UN deputy special coordinator for the Middle East peace process also arrived in Gaza through the Beit Hanoun crossing.
There is still no information if the UN official will hold meetings with leaders of factions.
