A high-level delegation from the Egyptian intelligenceservice arrived on Saturday in the West Bank city of Ramallah for talks with PAChairman Mahmoud Abbas.
“The visit comes in an attempt to reach a reconciliation dealbetween Fatah and Hamas movements before a possible cease-fire deal between Hamasand Israel” Egyptian security source told Quds Press.
Saturday’s visit aims to convince PA Chairman to facilitatethe conditions set by his group for a reconciliation deal the source added.
Last week Fatah delegation to Egypt presented a set ofconditions to accept any reconciliation deal with Hamas Movement. Theconditions were described by Hamas as “practically impossible to achieve”.
More than one agreement on national reconciliation wasreached under Saudi Qatari and Egyptian sponsorship but none of them reacheda tangible breakthrough to end the division that began since Hamas Movement wonthe legislation elections in 2006.
