GAZA (PIC)– Burhan Hammad the chairman of the Egyptian security delegation in Gaza announced on Tuesday that he would return to Gaza soon adding that he was awaiting president Hosni Mubarak to determine the exact date for the team’s return.
Hammad in a press statement also refused PA chief Mahmoud Abbas’s call for deployment of international troops in Gaza.
He explained that Egypt would not welcome such forces because they are usually employed to disengage enemies while Egypt and Palestine are “brothers”.
Mubarak had earlier announced that the security delegation would return to Gaza as soon as calm prevails in the Strip.
For its part the Hamas Movement welcomed the return of the Egyptian team. Ayman Taha one of Hamas’s political leaders in the Strip said that the step showed that Cairo started to understand the real picture in the Palestinian arena.
