JEDDAH (PIC)– Secretary-general of the organization of Islamic cooperation Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu has made an urgent appeal to humanitarian organizations to provide emergency medical assistance to the besieged Gaza Strip.
In a press release on Monday Ihsanoglu called on the member states of the Islamic organization humanitarian organizations and charities in the Islamic world and the international bodies to address the acute shortage of medical supplies in Gaza.
His appeal highlighted in particular the urgent needs of cancer and kidney patients.
For its part the humanitarian affairs department of the OIC said its offices in Gaza and Cairo are ready to coordinate their efforts to deliver medical supplies to the health authorities in Gaza.
