GAZA (PIC)– Head of Qatar’s National Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza Ambassador Mohamed al-Emadi arrived on Monday evening in the Gaza Strip via Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing.
Ahmed Abu Ras director of the committee’s technical bureau stated that Emadi who stopped over in Ramallah en route to Gaza is scheduled to hold a press conference on Tuesday to declare new developments related to Qatari-funded projects.
Emadi who is expected to remain in Gaza for several days will inspect the Qatari projects that started almost two years ago in the besieged Strip.
In 2012 Qatar decided to direct financial assistance for the reconstruction of Gaza. About $500 million were allocated to purchase construction materials from Egypt for the establishment of Qatari housing and infrastructure projects in the Strip.
Last November Israel accepted to allow the construction materials access to Gaza via Karem Abu Salem crossing due to the continued closure of Rafah border crossing.
