Head of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza ambassador Mohammed al-Emadi on Tuesday denied news talking about differences between Hamas and Qatar because of the recent Egypt talks.
Emadi affirmed in a press conference in Gaza that Qatar supports the Palestinian reconciliation agreement whether it is signed in Riyadh or Cairo calling on the Palestinian Authority (PA) government to fully assume its duties toward the Palestinian people.
He stressed that Qatar’s position on the Palestinian cause will remain the same despite the siege imposed on it adding that his country has pledged to secure the establishment of the headquarters of the Palestinian government and presidency in the Gaza Strip at the request of the PA president Mahmoud Abbas.
The Qatari ambassador pointed out that Qatar will continue to support the Palestinians and will contribute to enabling the PA government to fulfill its responsibilities in Gaza which primarily include finding radical solutions to the issues of PA employees and electricity.
As for the recruitment of Gaza teachers to work in Qatar Emadi said that the current circumstances do not allow the appointment of new teachers adding that Gaza has well-trained staff who are not available anywhere else in the world.
On the reconstruction file Emadi affirmed that Qatar and Kuwait have lived up to what they had promised at the Cairo Conference.
Ambassador Emadi arrived in the Gaza Strip on Monday along with his deputy Khalid al-Hardan and other four personalities via Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing in a regular visit to view the Qatari projects in Gaza and follow up work at his office there.
The Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza is carrying out dozens of vital projects in the besieged Gaza Strip which are part of a $407-million grant offered by Emir Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani in addition to other grants.
