Turkish President Recep Erdogan has expressed his pride in his country’s strong defense of Palestine in all international conferences and events.
Erdogan made the remarks online at the opening of the Turkish parliament’s new legislative session on Thursday.
“We consider it an honor on behalf of our country and nation to express the rights of the oppressed Palestinian people on every platform with whom we have lived for centuries” the Turkish president underlined.
“In this city that we had to leave in tears during the First World War it is still possible to come across traces of the Ottoman resistance. So Jerusalem is our city a city from us” he told Turkish lawmakers.
The Ottoman Empire ruled over Jerusalem from about 1516 to 1917. Modern Turkey has long emphasized its enduring connection to the holy city and always condemned Israel’s alleged efforts to “Judaize” it and the US administration’s December 2017 recognition of it as Israel’s capital.
The Israeli occupation state started to claim Jerusalem as its capital when it was established as an occupying power in Palestine and many brainwashed Jewish people especially those who came from western Europe — the continent that had suppressed and maltreated them for centuries — also claim that the Jews have thousands of years of history in the Palestinian holy city allegedly backed up by archaeological finds.
However historical facts confirmed the Jews who lived in the city in ancient times were from Palestinian and Arab origins and excavations proved that all the antiquities that were discovered were Palestinian belonging to historic Christian and Islamic civilizations.
