During his address to the 76th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 76) at dawn Wednesday Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan called for ending Israeli occupation and annexation of Palestinian lands and the building of settlements in occupied Palestinian territory.
Erdogan identified the Palestinian-Israeli conflict as “one of the most important problems that fuels instability and threatens peace and security in our region”.
He championed the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on 1967 occupied lands with Jerusalem as its capital.
The Turkish president called for the revival of the peace process based on the two-state solution.
