Turkish president Recep Erdogan met on Wednesday with a Palestinian parliamentary delegation visiting the country at the invitation of the Turkish Palestinian Friendship Association.
Erdogan welcomed the delegation and affirmed that Turkey would remain supportive for Palestine and Jerusalem.
“We convened the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Conference in the aftermath of Trump’s racist decision on Jerusalem and we paid 146 million dollars for projects in the West Bank and Gaza through TIKA agency” president Erdogan said during the meeting.
“The Islamic and Christian worlds are united against the Trump declaration and the position of Pope Francis was clear calling for necessarily pushing for recognizing Palestine by European countries and alleviating the Palestinian people’s suffering” the president added.
For his part head of the Palestinian delegation MP Mohamed al-Lahham expressed his thanks to the Turkish president for his strong support for the Palestinian people and their national cause.
Lahham also briefed the president on the considerable suffering which the Palestinian people at home are exposed to by the Israeli occupation.
