European campaign makes urgent appeal for saving impoverished Gaza people

Thursday 9-April-2009

LONDON (PIC)– The European campaign to lift the siege on Gaza Strip on Wednesday made an urgent appeal to all organizations concerned with human rights and law to save one and a half million Palestinians besieged in the Strip who live in very difficult conditions and are deprived of their basic human rights.

Spokesman for the campaign Sameh Habib emphasized that all international humanitarian organizations must intervene immediately to lift the unjust siege imposed on Gaza people for nearly three years pointing out that more than 317 Palestinian patients have died so far as a result of being denied travel for medical treatment abroad.

In another context the government committee to break the siege reported Thursday that a Scottish aid convoy headed by MP Pauline McNeill is due to arrive next Tuesday in Gaza.

Spokesman for the committee Adel Zu’rub added that a second European aid convoy coming from the Italian city of Milan is also expected to arrive next May in Gaza carrying truckloads of medical supplies.
