European delegation visits Gaza to assess humanitarian situation

A delegation of European diplomats arrived on Tuesday morning in the Gaza Strip to meet with officials from UNRWA and other organizations and tour bombed areas.

The delegation which includes ambassadors and diplomats from different European countries will be briefed on the humanitarian situation in Gaza following its exposure to recent Israeli aggression.

The delegation will meet with UNRWA officials and representatives of civil society organizations and make some field visits to talk with relatives of victims and owners of bombed homes.

Following intense aerial attacks on Gaza between August 5 and 7 a ceasefire brokered by Egypt and the UN came into effect on August 7 at 11:30 p.m. local time.

The Israeli aggression resulted in casualties and destruction worsening the humanitarian situation in embattled Gaza.

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) recently reported that 46 Palestinians were killed including 15 children and 4 women but the Palestinian health ministry in Gaza reported that that 49 citizens were killed including 17 children and at least 360 Palestinians were injured including 151 children 58 women and 19 elderlies.

According to OHCHR 1761 housing units in Gaza sustained different levels of damage 18 of which are fully destroyed and 68 severely damaged.

84 families (450 individuals) are also internally displaced and 8500 individuals have been affected by house damages.
