The Palestinian ex-prisoner Hassan Shawamreh who had been suffering from cancer since being held in Israeli jails has died few months after he was released.
The Palestinian committee for prisoners and ex-prisoners said that his death was the result of Israeli deliberate medical negligence in prison.
Haasan Shawamreh 48 suffered brain cancer while in prison. He was released in July 2017 after his health seriously worsened.
Shawamreh’s health had severely deteriorated by the time he was released his family said.
According to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Study Center there are about 280 Palestinian prisoners who have died in prison or shortly after their release.
There are 1200 prisoners that are currently sick inside the prisons. Twenty-one of those are in very critical condition and are being treated at Ramle prison clinic according to the center.
