Ex-prisoners’ families rally over salary cuts by PA

Tuesday 1-August-2017

The families of Palestinian ex-prisoners took on to Ramallah streets Tuesday denouncing the suspension of their salaries by the Palestinian Authority (PA) chaired by Mahmoud Abbas.

Speaking during a press conference held at the rally ex-prisoners’ families said PA’s cut of their sole sources of income is a stab in the back of Palestinian prisoners and their wives who sacrificed their freedom for the sake of their land and people.

The families of Palestinian prisoners and ex-prisoners urged the PA to backtrack on the decision and restore their legitimate rights.

A sit-in has been staged by Palestinian ex-prisoners and their families for 45 days in Duar al-Sa’a in Ramallah. An open-ended hunger strike has also been declared for the fourth day running.
