SALFIT (PIC)– Tens of families of Palestinian captives in the West Bank city of Salfit have urged captors of IOF serviceman Gilad Shalit not to release him unless Israel frees Palestinian captives in its jails in a swap deal.
The families’ call came during a massive rally organized by Hamas Movement in the nearby Karawat Bani Hassan town where speakers in the rally focused their speeches on the Palestinian prisoners and their sufferings in Israeli jails.
Among the speakers was former PA prisoner’s affairs minister Wasfi Kabaha who briefed the audience on agonies and sufferings of the Palestinian captives in the occupation jails urging the PA presidency and government to put the issue of the captives on top of their political priorities.
Moreover Kabaha opined that a solution to the captives’ problem could only be achieved through capturing more IOF servicemen and swapping them with Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.
Mushir Al-Masri the PLC member and Hamas’ political leader seconded Kabaha’s remarks as he addressed the audience from Gaza city via telephone affirming that any agreement undermines the right of return of the Palestinian refugees would end in total failure.
He also saluted Palestinian captives from Salfit including former PA finance minister MP Dr. Omar Abdul Razek and MP Nasser Abdul Jawad among other Palestinian captives.
Masri furthermore underlined that the PA legislature was and still is placing the captives’ issue on top of its political agenda.
In a related matter sources of Palestinian prisoners inside the infamous Negev jail revealed that conditions of the captives were worsening day after day due to the Israeli harsh and quelling measures against them.
Abu Mohammed one of the Palestinian captives in the said jail affirmed that the jail administration was deliberately lessening quantity of food offered to each captive in addition to putting a number of restrictions on their family visits.
Other prisoners in the jail confirmed Abu Mohammad’s remarks adding that conditions in the jail worsen further during summer and winter seasons.
