The Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) on Friday evening released the body of the slain Palestinian protester Muhannad Abu Safaqa 44 after they withheld it for nearly a couple of months.
According to local sources Abu Safaqa’s body was handed over to his family at Anab checkpoint in the presence of the Palestinian Liaison and delegates of the Palestinian Red Crescent.
Sometime earlier the casualty’s body was transferred to Thabet Thabet Hospital in Tulkarem pending a final autopsy report.
Abu Safaqa was fatally gunned down by the Israeli forces on allegations that he carried out an anti-occupation stabbing attack in 1948 Occupied Palestine seriously wounding an Israeli cop.
Abu Safaqa succumbed to his wounds just the following day. His cadaver had been seized by the IOA since May 23 2017
