Fatah elements kill four Palestinians in Gaza

KHAN YOUNIS (PIC)– Gunmen of Fatah-affiliated mutiny trend killed Monday night four Palestinian citizens in the southern and northern Gaza Strip in the aftermath of the speech of PA chief Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank on the occasion of Fatah’s 43rd anniversary.

Palestinian medical and security sources reported to the PIC reporter the death of policeman Omar Asfour 25 Sheikh Mahmoud Abu Taha 58 a prominent Hamas figure in Khan Yunis a 12-year-old child called Ayman Abu Al-Wafa and 60-year-old Ibrahim Abu Adlak.
 
Security sources confirmed that the policeman was shot in his neck by a sniper affiliated with Fatah hiding in a building in the Abasan town to the east of Khan Younis city; whereas Sheikh Abu Taha and the 12-year-old boy were killed by gunmen hiding in the house of Fathi Abu Samra in the Amal neighborhood in the city.

Several areas in Khan Younis witnessed riots and criminal acts by elements affiliated with Fatah who threw stones at policemen and used obscene remarks against them.

Security sources reported that police forces regained control over all areas of the city and arrested a large number of participants in the chaos affiliated with Fatah confirming that they would not allow such elements to exercise acts of disturbance and crimes and would hold accountable all those found guilty in such events.

In the same context the caretaker government headed by premier Ismail Haneyya decided Monday to cancel all events announced Monday by Fatah faction during its conference which were scheduled to be held as of Tuesday and confirmed that it would punish the perpetrators and all those involved in the riots and killing of four citizens including the policeman and the 12-year-old boy.

“They broke their pledges and infringed on what they had committed themselves to; thus there would be new proceedings to be followed where the events announced Monday at a Fatah conference and scheduled to take place Tuesday would be blocked and all those involved in the riots that occurred Monday would be held accountable” Taher Al-Nunu the spokesman for the caretaker government stated in a press release.

Nunu added: “We had warned previously more than once that all celebrations festivals and marches of Fatah are abused to create problems and acts of murder and criminality.”

The spokesman affirmed that they received information about instructions that came to Fatah-affiliated elements to start at seven p.m. to create chaos and problems in various areas in Gaza adding that there would be an investigation to know the source of these orders.

For its part Hamas held Fatah leaders in the Gaza Strip fully responsible for the killing of four Palestinian citizens in Gaza confirming that it will not stay passive towards such crimes calling on the interior ministry to inflict retribution on murderers and criminals and to hold accountable the instigators and all those involved in the riots.
