Fatah gunmen attack funeral in Lebanon killing three mourners

Monday 13-December-2021

Three Hamas-affiliated young men were shot dead and at least 10 others including senior Hamas official Zaher Jabbarin were injured when gunmen from the Fatah Movement directly opened fire at a funeral in Burj esh-Shemali refugee camp in Lebanon.

The funeral was held for young martyr Hamza Shaheen who was proclaimed dead on Saturday after he succumbed to serious injuries he sustained in the unfortunate explosion incident that happened in the camp on Friday.

According to media sources armed Fatah members suddenly opened fire at mourners marching in the funeral procession near the camp’s cemetery killing three and injuring many others.

The slain victims are Mohamed Taha Omar as-Sahli and Hussein Ahmed and all of them live in other Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon.

Many Hamas members and officials led the funeral procession most notably Ezzat al-Resheq Zaher Jabarin and Husam Badran. Noted figures from other Palestinian factions and Lebanese parties as well as local officials were among the attendees.

In this regard the Hamas Movement held the Palestinian national security forces directly responsible for this crime.

Hamas also held the Palestinian Authority leadership in Ramallah and its security forces in Lebanon fully responsible for what happened stressing that “this massacre is a crime targeting the entire Palestinian community in Lebanon and an aggression against the Palestinian presence in the country.”

The Movement called on the Lebanese security authorities to arrest the killers and bring them to justice as soon as possible.
