Fatah vandals in West Bank torch house of PLC speaker

Monday 18-June-2007

RAMALLAH (PIC)– Elements of the mutiny trend in Fatah and the PA security apparatuses under the command of PA chief Mahmoud Abbas have attacked house of PLC speaker Dr. Aziz Dwaik and set it on fire.

According to local sources and eyewitnesses the mutineers stormed the house of Dwaik at dawn Monday and wreaked havoc on it before torching it. The vandals had earlier stormed the PLC headquarters and raised Fatah yellow banners on top of it.

House of Palestinian journalist Hassan Al-Titi the correspondent of Al-Jazeera satellite TV channel in Nablus city was also burnt at hands of the hooligans who alleged that the journalist was a Hamas sympathizer.

Last October Al-Titi’s car was targeted by armed Fatah elements while parking in front of his home in Nablus city before the vandals broke his house gate and threatened to kill him.

Secretary of the PLO’s executive committee Yasser Abd Rabbo had earlier badmouthed the Qatari-based TV channel during an interview with “Palestine TV” in Ramallah city Sunday.

Abd Rabbo who is known as the engineer of the Geneva Initiative that dropped the right of return of Palestinian refugees even charged the channel of participating in what he called “Hamas’ crimes”.

Another leader of the mutiny trend and Abbas’ close associate Nabil Amre also accused the channel of “misleading” the Palestinian public opinion although the channel is known in the Arab and international arenas for its credibility and unbiased coverage.

In Qalqilia city the hooligans assassinated Palestinian journalist Abdul Fattah Shuraim the correspondent of newly founded “Palestine” newspaper after shooting him in the head from close distance.

House and car of Shuraim were set on fire by the mischievous PA security elements and mutineers in Fatah faction.

The paper condemned the killing of Shuraim affirming that its offices in the West Bank were frequently attacked by the mutineers.

Two of the paper’s correspondents in Gaza Strip were gunned down by the elements of the mutiny trend in the run up to the confrontations  between Hamas fighters and elements of the mutiny trend.

Also in Nablus city Palestinian citizen Jamal Al-Osta 45 was killed at the hands of the vandals while guarding the Red Crescent Society in the city.

The victim was rushed to the hospital but died of his wounds moments later. He was one of Hamas’ cadres in the city.

At least two other Palestinian citizens suspected of sympathizing with Hamas Movement were killed at the hands of the PA security apparatuses and Fatah vandals over the past five days. They were identified as Anees Al-Saloos 36 and 19-year-old Hani Al-Sarouji.

Hamas Movement had earlier accused elements of Fatah’s mutiny trend of killing and attacking more Hamas cadres supporters and legal and social institutions in the West Bank affirming that allegations of general amnesty uttered by those elements were mere fabrications with the aim to cover their crimes.

MP Dr. Salah Al-Bardaweel condemned Fatah atrocities in the West Bank affirming “those who betrayed their country and their people and abandoned Palestinian national constants must be prosecuted”.
