GAZA (PIC)– Dr. Salam Fayyad the leader of the third path parliamentary bloc has affirmed his participation in the Palestinian national unity government and his acceptance of the finance portfolio.
Dr. Fayyad said that he would like to clarify that his nomination to the finance portfolio was endorsed in the Makkah agreement which he said is something that he is proud of.
He opined that higher national interests necessitated that all should rally behind that agreement the soonest and added that he would thus like to renew his absolute commitment to the agreement.
MP Hanan Ashrawi member of the same bloc had doubted Dr. Fayyad’s acceptance to join the unity government adding in press statements that consultations between her and Dr. Fayyad were still underway in this regard.
For his part Dr. Salah Al-Bardawil the Hamas parliamentary bloc spokesman affirmed Fayyad’s acceptance of the portfolio adding that the foreign portfolio was assigned to Ziyadh Abu Amre.
He added that the information portfolio would most probably be assigned to Dr. Mustafa Al-Barghouthi the leader of the independent Palestine bloc. He affirmed that the names of ministers would be finalized by end of the current week.
