GAZA (PIC)– The illegitimate PA government of Salam Fayyad based in Ramallah has decided to suspend salaries of 100 staffers in the European hospital in Gaza including the hospital’s manager Dr. Mohammed Abu Shahla.
Ala Al-Batta the chairman of the civil servants syndicate denounced the decision noting that the European Gaza hospital grouped a selection of efficient doctors paramedics and technicians some of whom were recruited from abroad to extend distinctive medical service to patients in Gaza.
He said in a press release that dozens others were put off the payroll in the past few months at trivial pretexts and now those 100 cadres. He warned that such a measure threatens work stoppage in the hospital and might affect the level of the hospital’s medical services.
More than 700 civil servants received similar notifications over the past month including 300 in the health ministry Batta said criticizing the fact that the new step coincided with the advent of the holy month of Ramadan in which “we expected an initiative from the Ramallah government to alleviate suffering of the Gaza inhabitants”.
Bahar deplores Fayyad’s decision:
For his part Dr. Ahmed Bahar the acting PLC speaker said that services sectors should be spared political wrangling.
He expressed surprise at the fact that the PA in Ramallah was paying salaries to those who do not go to work in Gaza and suspend the salaries of those who report to duty including hospitals.
Bahar was speaking at a massive march for the Palestinian trade union in Gaza on Tuesday organized to protest the illegitimate Salam Fayyad government’s decision to suspend the salaries of doctors and paramedics who report to work in Gaza.
The PLC speaker asked PA chief Mahmoud Abbas and Fayyad to revoke the decision of suspending salaries of civil servants especially the workers in the health sector.
