Fisherman injured by Israeli gunfire in Gaza waters

Saturday 15-August-2020

One Palestinian fisherman suffered a bullet injury on Friday afternoon when the Israeli occupation navy opened fire at fishing boats off the northern shores of the besieged Gaza Strip.

According to local sources Israeli gunboats fired rubber bullets at fishermen off the shores of Beit Lahia in northern Gaza and wounded one of them in his leg.

Later at night a three-year-old child was injured when Israeli warplanes bombed several targets in Gaza causing material damage to homes and infrastructure.

In recent days the Israeli occupation army launched a wave of aerial and artillery attacks on densely populated Gaza claiming its aggression was in response to balloon-borne arson attacks that sparked dozens of fires in Israeli areas

However local sources in Gaza call the flying of such balloons by angry youths as acts of protest against Israel’s failure to honor its pledges under the last truce understandings to ease the blockade on Gaza and its persistence in attacking fishermen.
