Fisherman injured by Israeli gunfire north of Gaza

Sunday 14-April-2019

A Palestinian fisherman on Sunday morning suffered a bullet injury after Israeli naval forces opened fire at fishing boats in the northern waters of the Gaza Strip.

A reporter for the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) said that Israeli soldiers chased and opened fire at a number of fishing boats off the coast of northern Gaza.

He added that one fisherman was injured in the gunfire attack.

Despite the recent Israeli decision to expand fishing areas along the coast of Gaza the Israeli naval forces still harass and attack Palestinian fishermen.

GAZA (PIC)– A Palestinian fisherman was wounded on Monday evening when the Israeli occupation navy opened fire at him as he was working aboard his boat off the northern coast of the Gaza Strip.

He was rushed by fellow fishermen to a local hospital. The fisherman was identified as 29-year-old Ahmed Zayed.

Despite the Egyptian-brokered ceasefire deal between Israel and the Palestinians following the 2014 war Gaza fishermen are still vulnerable to frequent gunfire attacks and harassment by the Israeli navy.
