Friday 16-December-2016

Palestinian citizens and foreign activists choked on teargas after the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) quelled the weekly marches in the West Bank on Friday. Eyewitnesses said that a foreign activist was arrested.

The IOF fired dozens of teargas bombs at the anti-settlement and anti-apartheid weekly march in Bil’in town to the west of Ramallah and arrested the 15-year-old boy Ward Hamad from Silwad town in the same province.

Meanwhile Palestinian citizens and a number of foreign activists rallied after Friday prayer in eastern Qaqilia despite the cold weather and called for the opening of Kafr Qaddom village street which has been closed by the IOF for the past 14 years.

Coordinator of popular resistance in Kafr Qaddum Murad Ishtawi said that the IOF soldiers attacked the march with teargas canisters sound bombs and rubber bullets. Dozens of participants in the march suffered breathing problems as a result he added.

Confrontations were also reported on Friday night between IOF soldiers and local youths in Beit Uwa village to the west of Dura town in al-Khalil province.

Eyewitnesses told the PIC reporter that the confrontations took place after an IOF patrol entered the town and the soldiers started checking IDs of young men.
