Four Palestinian detainees are currently on hunger strike in Israeli jails in protest at their administrative detention (without charge or trial) according to a Palestinian Prisoner Society statement on Friday.
The detainees are Maher al-Akhras Mousa Zahran Abdulrahman Sh’eibat and Mohammed Wahdan.
Maher al-Akhras 49 has been on hunger strike for 33 days and his health condition has gravely worsened in the past few days. He has been held in administrative detention since 27 July.
Mousa Zahran 53 has been on hunger strike for 13 days. He was arrested on 7 July and sentenced to 6 months of administrative detention. Zahran had previously spent a total of 5 years in Israeli jails.
Abdulrahman Sh’eibat 30 started his hunger strike 9 days ago. Sh’eibat who has been detained since 5 June had previously served 4 years in Israeli jails.
Mohammed Wahdan has been on hunger strike for 24 days and he is being incarcerated in Ofer jail.
