Four fishermen kidnapped in northern Gaza waters

Tuesday 6-December-2016

The Israeli navy on Tuesday morning kidnapped four Palestinian fishermen as they were on their boat off the northern shores of the Gaza Strip.

Chief of the fishermen Nizar Ayyash told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) that Israeli naval soldiers opened fire at the fishermen and then brutalized them before taking them and their boat to the port of Ashdod.

Ayyash noted that this new incident happened off the coast of al-Sudaniya area west of Beit Lahia city.

He identified the detained fishermen as Majed Fadel Bakr and his sons Amran and Mohamed as well as Khalil Johar Bakr

Earlier Israeli gunboats opened machinegun fire at Palestinian fishing boats off the coast of Beit Lahia with no reported injuries.

Since Israel started to impose a tight blockade on Gaza in 2007 hundreds of Palestinian fishermen have been arrested injured and even killed by the Israeli navy off the Gaza coast.
