France has decided to postpone its international peace conference scheduled to be held next week to resume talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA) the PA ambassador to France Salman Harfi told the Voice of Palestine the official PA radio on Wednesday morning.
The PA ambassador said that France informed the Palestinians that the peace conference originally scheduled to take place later this month has been postponed until January 2017.
The ambassador stressed that the conference was postponed since there was not enough time to prepare it in such a way that ensures its success.
“Invitations will be sent to everyone but if Israel refuses to attend the meeting will take place as it did last June without the two sides” Harfi stated.
Israel has long opposed the French initiative explaining that the only way to reach a peace agreement is through direct talks with the PA.
