Friday prayer held on the rubble of Elayan’s house

Friday 26-February-2021

Residents in Al-Issawiya performed Friday prayer over the rubble of the Elayan family house which was demolished by the Israeli occupation police a few days ago.

During the Friday sermon (Khutba) Sheikh Ekrema Sabri the preacher of the Al-Aqsa Mosque called on Jerusalemites to unite and confront the occupation’s plans.

Sheikh Sabri said that 30000 houses are threatened with demolition in Jerusalem in light of many restrictions on getting a building license by the occupation municipality.

“The number of Jerusalemites has increased six times since the occupation of the city in 1967 despite arrests prisons deportations and displacement attempts” he added.

The occupation police destroyed on Thursday night the tent in which the Elayan family members were sheltered after the demolition of their two-story building on Tuesday evening.

Fadi Elayan the guard of Al-Aqsa Mosque said that the Israeli police removed his family’s tent that was set up on the rubble of the house to shelter them.

The Israeli police fired stun grenades randomly in the place during the demolition of the tent to disperse the protesting citizens and removed a solidarity banner hanging on the building’s rubble.
