The higher committee for the people impacted by the 2014 war in Gaza organized on Saturday morning a sit-in in protest at UNRWA’s failure to pay financial assistance for the affected families after an eight-month wait.
Dozens of Gazan citizens who were affected by the 2014 war rallied in the central district of Gaza City carrying placards calling on UNRWA to pay them the financial compensation and put an end to their suffering.
“We have come today to deliver our message to [UNRWA] officials that we will continue to demand our rights and we will not stop until we have them so stop your procrastination” head of the committee Abdul-Hadi Muslim said in a speech during the sit-in.
Muslim accused UNRWA of neglecting the suffering of those affected by the 2014 war and urged the Palestinian government and the concerned parties to necessarily pressure the refugee agency to pay them the financial aid.
“We have been patient for eight years hoping to see this file come to an end and those affected compensated but our patience is running out” he underscored.
