The Egyptian authorities have opened today February 11 the Rafah border crossing for the travel of passengers with humanitarian cases and holders of foreign documents.
A spokesman for the Palestinian crossing and border authority said that the Egyptian authorities on Saturday morning opened the crossing in both directions after informing the Palestinian side in Gaza.
The spokesman added that the crossing would be open for three days for the travel of students patients and holders of passports and residence permits whose names were registered with the crossing and border authority.
Last week the Egyptian authorities had informed the Palestinian side of its intention to open the crossing for three days.
In recent months Cairo has increased the number of people allowed to travel through the Rafah crossing Gaza’s main gateway to the outside world.
It has also started to allow Gaza to import commercial goods through Rafah for the first time since 2013.
