Gaza: IOA continues to block entry of goods fuel

Monday 31-May-2021

The Palestinian authorities in Gaza has accused the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) of preventing entry of trucks carrying goods food supplies and fuel into the war-torn Gaza Strip.

“The occupation has been closing the Karam Abu Salem commercial crossing since the military aggression against Gaza started on May 11 and despite the ceasefire agreement the occupation continues to prevent goods food supplies and vital needs from entering the Strip under flimsy pretexts” the local committee in charge of coordinating entry of goods to Gaza said on Monday.

The IOA also refuses to allow in fuel shipments (diesel cooking gas and gasoline) as well as the fuel needed to operate the sole power station in Gaza according to the committee.

Such fuel crisis has led to a severe electricity shortage that affected vital sectors in Gaza including the health water and sanitation sectors and forced some municipal councils to dispose of untreated sewage and wastewater into the sea.
