Nine Palestinian journalists was injured by Israeli gunfire on Monday as they were covering the massive March of Return protests that were staged in the eastern border of the besieged Gaza Strip according to the ministry of information in Gaza.
In press remarks spokesman for the ministry Salama Maarouf condemned Israeli soldiers’ targeting of unarmed citizens and journalists on Monday as “a massacre committed in full view of the entire world.”
Maarouf affirmed that the passivity of the international parties towards such massacre would make them accomplices in Israel’s crimes.
He also stressed the need for the international actors to assume their responsibilities in this regard after the Palestinian people engaged in peaceful protests to demand the implementation of UN resolutions on Palestine especially with regard to their right of return.
“If the peaceful resistance failed to achieve our legal political and humanitarian right to exert pressure on the occupation our people have many options to use in order to restore their rights” the spokesman underlined.
